"Ballate Mitomagiche" and "Il Guardiano Alato" by Arthuan Rebis
RELEASE DATE MAY 7, 2025!
Mystical songs and a fantastic novel for worlds on the brink of apocalypse
"Ballate Mitomagiche" is the new music album by Arthuan Rebis. 16 songs connected to the new novel "Helughèa. Il Guardiano Alato" (Eterea Edizioni), sequel to "Helughèa. Il Racconto di una Stella Foglia", which however presents itself as a stand-alone work.
Album and book are set to release in May 2025, along with a series of video clips.
In the previous double work, the primary musical function was to narrate prophecies, amplify the emotions and omens contained in the respective literary work, opening invisible portals between a human world corroded by world wars and the fairy kingdom in full geopolitical crisis.
In the new dual work, Ballate Mitomagiche and Il Guardiano Alato are as independent as they are complicit. Neither is essential for the other, but together they allow for a deep immersion. The album is also a metatextual element present in various dimensions of the narrative.
The novel has been associated with Ende, Carroll, Dick, Orwell, Tolkien, Evangelisti, and the TV series The Dark. While for the songs, Battiato, Branduardi, McKennitt, Dead Can Dance, The Cure, Corvus Corax, and others have been cited. The wide spectrum of correspondences shows how mature and personal Arthuan's signature is, who will soon be touring around Italy and at the Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany.
A dark fantasy novel, apocalyptic and spiritual, between dystopia and utopia.
Fedya, the protagonist girl, and her family must embark on a journey through dimensions never imagined to unveil ancient mysteries: who has propitiated the birth of the human race? What is the secret that unites the worlds of Helu and Ghèa? Cosmic forces and temporal planes intertwine in an adventure aimed at healing broken worlds. Thanks to the skillful alchemy of magical, fantastic, and science fiction elements, combined with the rawness of an end-of-the-world atmosphere, Il Guardiano Alato enriches the fantasy genre with eco-spiritual, esoteric, and metatextual themes. Rebis thus applies an original sensitivity to a literary genre often crystallized in stereotypes and themes difficult to scratch.
The novel, embellished with musical tracks accessible for free via a QR code in the book and illustrations by Nicola Caleo, offers a full sensory approach that amplifies the reading experience. Il Guardiano Alato is ideal for those fantasy and science fiction readers who appreciate narratives rich in symbolism and stylistic experimentation, as well as for those attracted to environmental and spiritual themes in an innovative and engaging literary context.
A fantasy folk album, between mystical songwriting and ethereal bardic ballads
With a quick overview of the tracks, we first encounter Melancholia, a sublimation of the raven and saturnine sentiment that animates the most lunar poets, well described by alchemists and Durer. Then we have Metamorfica, an alchemical serenade for "Making Soul". And between courage and wonder, we encounter Ethereon, Era Oscura and Stella Fatua, then arriving at the Cantico della Dea, rich in opposing images that resolve in the Mantra of Wisdom. In Chanson des Bardes harp and voice weave plots and enigmas, with melodies and harmonies transcribed by Arthuan during a dream. Il Mago e le Torri is an alchemical ballad that embodies the essence of an enlightened alchemist, and is similar to Il Matto e il suo Scettro, clear as a Tarot card. The Dionysian Mainades introduces the Neptunian and mercurial prayer of Angelo del Mare. We finally set sail among the heludin songs and a spell of liberation from enemies, before exiting Arthuan's universe, with a disorienting dedication to David Lynch.
The whole is traversed by songs of all kinds, Celtic harp, harpsichord, nyckelharpa, esraj, guitars, bass, bagpipes, flutes, bouzouki, synth, frame drums, percussion, bouzouki, santur, violins, cellos, on enchanting soundscapes.
